Neurology

Department of Neurology is an integral part of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and provides the best medical care, proper evaluation and clinical management of patients with various neurological disorders. Patient of neurological disorders are the major bulk of both emergency and inpatient wards. So, a team of energetic and trained faculties, residents and nursing teams are needed to maintain and develop it. In this aspect, we have plans to improve further the outpatient service and weekly specialized outpatient clinics are being planned for the near future. Further, improvement in quality of critical care and stroke were enhanced by adding more high dependency units’ (HDU)  beds last year. With the new beds added to Suresh Wagle building last year, 20-30 patients get regularly admitted in HDU and general wards. There is still a need to expand the outpatient section. With the increment of outpatient load, addition of newer faculties and outpatient space should also be expanded. In addition to daily clinical service, teaching learning activities is extraordinarily immense with journal clubs, topic presentations, mortality presentations, neurophysiology discussions and case presentations. The department enrolls a DM Neurology resident each year and has already produced 8 batches of neurologists. Department is also regularly providing guidance to various national and international electives posted for exposure of neurological disorders.
